About WMOT

WMOT 89.5 Roots Radio

WMOT Roots Radio, 89.5 FM, is a 100,000 watt NPR music station serving Middle Tennessee from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. It has served the mid-state since 1969, and in September of 2016 it adopted a full time Americana music format with a Nashville focus branded as WMOT Roots Radio. With DJs from 6 am to 7 pm on weekdays and a range of specialty programming on nights and weekends, its mission is to reflect the ongoing evolution of Music City and its American roots traditions.

Our Story

WMOT has been on the air at 89.5 FM since April 9, 1969. Over the years WMOT has played rock n’ roll, classical, jazz, news and talk. In September of 2016 WMOT took a bold step and flipped the mixed format station to a full-time Americana music station.

895 Fest is a continuation of WMOT’s mission to enrich the lives of music lovers by championing the sounds of Nashville’s heritage and connecting our community to one-of-a-kind programming, experiences and one another.
